The British Isles have a long and colorful past. These islands have been instrumental in the founding of countries all over the world, including the United States. The countries that make up the British Isles and Ireland are so different, from their histories and their people to their heritages and customs.
England is known for it's royalty, from William the Conqueror, the first Norman King of England, to current Queen Elizabeth II. The rulers of this mighty country would forge explorations that would form the British Empire, that was said the sun never set upon.
The land of Scotland is full of mystery and beauty. From the age of the Clans which ruled over the highlands to the battles that were fought against the Vikings and the English, this is a proud country, land of my ancestors.
The country of Wales , with it's odd language, and stark landscape. Wales began in 1536 with a decree from the English King Henry the VIII's Act of Union. Welsh woolen products are know worldwide, as is the Swallow Yacht builders. The Welsh history is rich and deep.
Ireland, the Emerald Isle. When the Normans invaded this beautiful land in the late 12th century, it would began more than 900 years of English rule. A land now divided between Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland, are still rich in history.
